Nomination Petition Packets for March 2020 Primary Available

While the 2020 Elections may seem far away, Macoupin County residents who are thinking of running for office in 2020 are in the process of circulating nomination petitions now.

Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan said recently that Sept. 3 was the first day potential candidates can pick up petitions at the County Clerk’s office in the Courthouse and begin circulating them for signatures. Petition packets are also available online at www.MacoupinVotes.com under the ‘For Candidates’ tab.

Offices on the ballot in 2020 include Circuit Clerk, Coroner, and State’s Attorney. Duncan also said that Board members in Districts 2, 5 and 7 are the ballot next year. Democratic and Republican precinct committeepeople positions will also be elected in the March primary.

Duncan announced that the filing period for petitions will be November 25th through December 2th of this year with the primary election being held March 17th, 2020. Anyone with questions on nomination petitions was urged by Duncan to contact the Election’s Office at 217 854-3214.
